Statistical Process Control Training

Statistical Process Control with Excel Applications

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a widely recognized methodology for achieving product and service quality excellence. It focuses on proactively controlling the manufacturing process to minimize variations caused by special circumstances. A core principle is ensuring shopfloor teams understand SPC fundamentals to create process stability and predictability.

Prerequisite

No prior knowledge of statistics is required for this course. However, all participants must have Excel installed for practical exercises. Participants should bring a laptop with applicable variable and attribute data.

Note:

  • Variable data – Process parametric data that are measurable.
  • Attribute data – Visual inspection data from production or quality control.

Training Objectives

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of SPC.
  • Identify process variations due to special causes.
  • Utilize SPC tools to recognize “out of control” conditions.
  • Conduct process capability analysis and monitor process stability.
  • Set up an SPC monitoring system.

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for shopfloor workforce members, including Technicians, Supervisors, Line Leaders, QC/QA personnel, and Operational Trainers. It is also beneficial for Junior Engineers/Executives and New Hires, introducing basic SPC concepts before advancing to intermediate SPC knowledge.

Methodology

  • Activity-based training.
  • Relevant games and simulations.
  • Group discussions and case studies.
  • Interactive storytelling.
  • Slide presentations and two-way interactions.
  • Group exercises and role plays, including Q&A.

Statistical Process Control with Minitab

Similar to the Excel course, this training focuses on applying SPC methodology with Minitab software to proactively control the manufacturing process. Emphasis is placed on minimizing variations caused by special causes, with a strong focus on building a deep understanding of SPC fundamentals, especially for the shopfloor team, to achieve process stability and predictability.

Prerequisite

No prior knowledge of statistics is required. However, participants should have Minitab installed on their laptop for practical exercises, in addition to Excel. Please bring applicable variable and attribute data.

Note:

  • Variable data – Process parametric data that are measurable.
  • Attribute data – Visual inspection data from production or quality control.

Training Objectives

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of SPC.
  • Identify process variations due to special causes.
  • Use SPC tools to recognize “out of control” process conditions.
  • Organize SPC projects for process improvement.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for Technicians, Supervisors, Line Leaders, QC/QA staff, and Operational Trainers in the shopfloor workforce. It’s also suitable for Junior Engineers/Executives and New Hires to introduce basic SPC concepts before progressing to more advanced SPC knowledge.

Methodology

  • Activity-based training.
  • Relevant games and simulations.
  • Group discussions and case studies.
  • Interactive storytelling.
  • Slide presentations and two-way interactions.
  • Group exercises and role plays, including Q&A.
